Peggy Spach Sidden passed this life and has seen God the father and her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, Friday, May 4, 2007. She was the daughter of Fred David and Margaret Snyder Spach. A lifetime member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, Peggy was a member of the choir, children' s coordinator, Bible School teacher and cook for the Wednesday Night Fellowship Dinner. Peggy and her high school sweetheart, George "G.A.," were married in the church parsonage in 1959. Over the years, through love and fierce devotion, they created a strong family: children SuAnne and Scott Ray, Chris and Mary Sidden and Jonathan Sidden; grandchildren Elizabeth and Josh Schaefer, Jennifer Ray and Christopher David Sidden (3/85-5/85), Sara Ray and Emily Sidden; and great-grandchild Cailen Schaefer. Her favorite pastime was to gather with her family, brothers and sisters and their families, celebrating birthdays, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter or just a Saturday evening that had beautiful weather (Richard and Bonnie Spach, Mickey and Myra Spach, Betty Spach, Justin Spach, Patrick Spach and Christy Davis). Peggy was known for her quick wit, love of laughter and a beautiful voice which she used her entire life. Growing up in a family steeped in Moravian tradition (Spach, Snyder, Ebert and Fishel were her grandparent' s names, as she was quick to tell), music was a major part of her life. As young children, she and her sister, Betty, frequently sang for church functions throughout the area. In 1970, she and Betty, along with Beverly Miller and Beverly Myers, created the Harmony Four, singing always for the glory of God. They continued to use their voices to uplift, console, move and restore the people who heard them. Peggy was known as a "mom away from mom" to countless children whom she loved dearly, acting as grade mother, team mother, chaperone, caregiver and friend. Her family would like to thank Dr. Brasher, Dr. Fowler and the hosts of nurses and specialists in the TICU, ICU and CCU at Forsyth Medical Center. A graveside service was conducted at 3 p.m., May 6, 2007 at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, with Dr Henry May and Dr. Joe Collins officiating. Memorials may be made the COPD Foundation, c/o Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, 4265 Ebert Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
